Zolder

The Circuit Zolder, also known as Circuit Terlaemen, is an undulating 3.977 km (2.622-mile) motorsport race track in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium.
Built in 1963, Zolder hosted the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix on 10 separate occasions in the 1970s and 1980s. Unfortunately, Zolder is probably best remembered as the place Gilles Villeneuve lost his life during qualifying at the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix, an event that signified the beginning of the end for the Flemish circuit as a Formula One venue (although the accident was not at all caused by problems with the track).
On two occasions has Zolder hosted for the World Championship Road Cycling in 1969 and 2002 and the World Championship Cyclo Cross in 1970 and 2002.
Now, Zolder hosts a round of the World Series by Renault championship, as well as the national GT Belcar championship, including the Euphony 24 Hours of Zolder, and many more. In the beginning of 2006, the track underwent some adaptations to increase safety.
